Accessibility Statement
We want everyone to find and share rides — regardless of ability. This page documents our conformance with the European Accessibility Act and where we still have work to do.
Scope & standards
This statement applies to the WheelFriends website at wheelfriends.app and the WheelFriends mobile app. We target conformance with the harmonised European standard EN 301 549 v3.2.1 and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. Our practices are aligned with Directive (EU) 2019/882 (European Accessibility Act), which applies to private-sector digital services from 28 June 2025, and with Slovak Act No. 351/2022 Coll.
Assessment method: self-assessment against EN 301 549 conducted by the WheelFriends team. Statement prepared: 28 April 2026.
What we do today
- Semantic HTML with proper heading hierarchy and landmarks.
- Keyboard navigation: every interactive element is reachable and operable without a pointer.
- Color contrast tested against WCAG 2.1 AA for body text and primary actions.
- Respect reduced-motion preferences for users with vestibular disorders.
- Images and icons include text alternatives, or are marked as decorative.
- Form inputs have programmatically associated labels and error messages.
- Focus indicators remain visible on all interactive components.
Known limitations
- Some map interactions (route picking) may not be fully operable by keyboard; a text-based alternative (address search + typeahead) is always available.
- Live ride status indicators rely on color in addition to text — we are working to add iconographic indicators throughout.
- User-uploaded content (avatars, community posts) may lack alt text; we prompt authors to add it but do not yet require it.
Feedback & enforcement
If you encounter an accessibility barrier, please contact us — we aim to respond within 10 business days and resolve the issue at our earliest opportunity.
accessibility@wheelfriends.appIf our response is unsatisfactory, consumers in Slovakia may escalate to the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Communications and Postal Services (Úrad pre reguláciu elektronických komunikácií a poštových služieb) — the competent enforcement body under Slovak Act No. 351/2022 Coll. — or to the relevant supervisory body in their EU Member State.
